Simak Recognized as a Success Story at the Annual Media Meeting 2025

The International Marine Products Company (Simak) was honored to participate in the Annual Media Meeting 2025, organized by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. The high-profile event was held under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al-Sunaidi and brought together leading companies and institutions operating within Oman’s economic zones to highlight progress, achievements, and strategic priorities for the future.

During the event, Simak was recognized as a successful model from the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), applauded for its contributions to the marine and food industries, and for embodying the values of innovation, sustainability, and national development. This recognition is a reflection of Simak’s commitment to not only building world-class production capabilities but also delivering broader economic and social impact across the Sultanate.

A Showcase of Achievement and Vision

As part of the session, Simak’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Zakaria bin Sulaiman Al-Hasani, delivered a presentation highlighting the company’s journey, achievements, and future ambitions. He shared insights on how Simak is playing a strategic role in driving added value within Oman’s seafood sector, contributing to industrial diversification, and advancing the national economy through innovation and responsible business practices.

Mr. Al-Hasani emphasized that Simak’s operations are built with a clear focus on sustainability, efficiency, and alignment with Oman Vision 2040. He also spoke about the company’s role in boosting Omanization rates, providing local employment opportunities, and empowering the surrounding communities through skills development and structured growth pathways.

Positioned at the Intersection of Industry and Impact

Established in the heart of Duqm, Simak operates one of the most advanced seafood processing facilities in the region. With a current annual capacity of 100 million cans, scalable to 150 million in the near future, the facility specializes in the production of canned tuna, sardine, and mackerel. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and responsible sourcing methods, Simak ensures the highest quality standards while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

Raw materials are primarily sourced through Al Wusta Fisheries, a sister company operating modern vessels equipped with liquid brine freezing systems. This integration allows Simak to uphold strict quality benchmarks, ensuring premium-grade products for both regional and international markets.

Simak’s participation in the Annual Media Meeting underlines its growing presence within Oman’s industrial ecosystem and its readiness to take on a leading role in shaping the future of the marine products sector. The recognition from SEZAD not only validates the company’s achievements but also reinforces its responsibility to continue setting standards for excellence, sustainability, and national contribution.

Moving Forward with Purpose

Looking ahead, Simak remains focused on expanding its market reach, investing in innovation, and deepening its impact on the local economy. The company’s leadership remains steadfast in supporting the broader goals of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and contributing meaningfully to Oman’s long-term development vision.

Simak’s journey is one of ambition, responsibility, and results, rooted in Omani values and built for global excellence.
